Last weekend I went to the Guild of Enamellers 2014 conference. It was a super weekend with some really interesting presentations and workshops which I will post about when I get some proper time spare to write fully. However, I also won an award for the selectors’ choice of the best work on precious metals using champleve and basse-taille techniques! I was really impressed by all the work on display so I was really surprised to be chosen and it’s a really nice boost for my confidence to know other people appreciate my work.
I’ve finally been able to send my new kiln in to be converted to bottle gas which means I should be able to start enamelling larger pieces soon. I feel really inspired and excited following conference and I keep daydreaming about new pieces to make. I really need to start carrying my sketchbook around for spare moments of time to jot things down.
