Shimmering Blue Topaz Drop Earrings

The Textures Collection:

The jewels in this collection are all about beautiful textures which catch the light. Some pieces are deeply hand engraved by Charlotte to glisten while others are also enamelled to add shimmering colour. The jewels have simple shapes which are easy to wear.

The Shimmering Blue Topaz Earrings:

These earrings are one-of-a-kind featuring stunning blue topaz (December birthstone) with green flashes. The enamel colours have been blended to reflect the colours of the stone, with hand engraved surfaces on the drops below the stones.

Materials: silver, vitreous enamel, topaz (princess cut).

The Process:

The texture on these earrings has been hand-engraved by Charlotte. She uses a specific shape of engraver which reflects as much light as possible and engraves deeply to create the glistening texture. Enamel glass is ground up very fine with a pestle and mortar and applied in a fine layer to each engraved surface using very delicate paintbrushes and/or feathers. The piece is then fired in the kiln at up to 1000 degrees centigrade and the enamel process is repeated until Charlotte is happy with the colour.
